ALPS Mountaineering Tasmanian 3‑Person Tent — Description

The Tasmanian 3 is a rugged, all‑season camping tent built to reliably shelter up to three people — a solid choice for car camping, back‑country trips, or year‑round outdoor adventures.

🏕️ Key Features & Build

  • Durable aluminum frame: Uses 7000‑series aluminum poles (with a continuous pole system plus an additional cross pole) that help keep the tent stable in wind and harsh weather.

  • Freestanding, double‑wall design: The tent is freestanding (so you don’t have to stake it immediately) and includes a full‑coverage fly over a double‑wall body for enhanced insulation and weather protection.

  • Weather‑resistant materials: The rainfly is a 75D/185T polyester taffeta with a 1500 mm waterproof coating, and the floor uses a heavier 75D/185T poly taffeta with up to 5000 mm waterproof coating — both with factory‑sealed seams.

  • Ventilation & access: Two large doors — one at each end — both with zippered mesh windows, allow for easy entry/exit and good airflow.

  • Spacious vestibules: Includes two vestibules (front and rear) for gear storage, boot area, or cooking — useful for keeping wet or muddy gear outside the main sleeping area.

  • Extras for convenience: Comes with mesh storage pockets, a gear loft, aluminum stakes, guy ropes, and uses large #8 zippers for durability and ease of use.

📐 Size & Specs

  • Sleeps: Up to 3 people

  • Floor dimensions: 7′‑8″ long × 6′‑7″ wide

  • Center height: ~54 in (4′ 6″) — enough to sit up comfortably.

  • Vestibule area: ~21 ft² — plenty of extra storage space for gear/shoes.

  • Packed weight: ~9 lb 10 oz — a reasonable weight for a 3‑person, 4‑season tent.

  • Packed size: ~20 in × 7 in (compact enough for car camping or longer trips).

✅ Ideal Use & Who It’s For

  • Campers who want a reliable, all‑season tent for car camping, weekend trips, or occasional backpacking — including colder weather or unpredictable conditions.

  • Small groups or families (2–3 people) who want room for bags and gear (thanks to vestibules and storage pockets) without needing a large cabin tent.

  • People who value durability, weather resistance, and ease of setup, rather than ultralight weight — good for comfort and convenience over minimalist backpacking.

⚠️ What to Keep in Mind

  • While it's classified as a 4‑season tent and handles wind and rain well, it's a bit heavier than minimalist backpacking tents — so if you're hiking many miles, the weight might matter.

  • The interior space is moderate for three adults; if all campers have gear or want comfort space, it might be tight — best suited for 2 adults + gear or 3 adults for short stays.

  • As with many freestanding tents, vestibule space is used for gear/storage — you’ll likely store backpacks & boots there instead of inside the sleeping area.

Bought items from them online. First time buying from Artemis. They got awesome customer service and kept me updated with emails. Fast shipping as well. A+ all
around for me.

Absolutely love the KOVEA Mini stove I purchased! They are great to work with and I’ll definitely buy from Artemis again.

Northology Adventures

Unbelievably fast shipping and attentive service. I expected 8-12 weeks for delivery, but the order was shipped the next day and arrived within 3 days! Best buying experience that I can recall, and the Gazelle T8 tent is spectacular.

Jeremy Cyr

Absolutely, hands down, the best customer service I have experienced to date. And a quality product to stand behind. I ordered aluminum traction boards from them recently and they are exactly what I was looking for. Very excited to find a solid vendor, I will be buying from them again.

Rockford Regan

Artemis Hardware delivered exactly what they promised, an exceptionally high-quality product, at a very good price. They provide an exceptional value and I would gladly shop here again.
